Sensitize future doctors to gender-specific differences at an early stage with an endowed professorship for gender medicine at the University of Bern.
Das biologische und psychosoziale Geschlecht beeinflusst die Entstehung, Präsentation und Behandlung von Krankheiten. Physische Unterschiede wie Körperbau oder Stoffwechsel wirken sich auf Erkrankungsrisiken und Arzneimittelreaktionen aus, während sozio-kulturelle Faktoren wie Stressbewältigung oder Risikoverhalten ebenfalls eine Rolle spielen. Trotz dieser bekannten Unterschiede werden sie in der medizinischen Praxis noch zu wenig berücksichtigt. Besonders Frauen sind betroffen, da viele Behandlungsleitlinien auf Studien mit männlichen Probanden basieren und frauenspezifische Symptome oder Therapieansprachen vernachlässigen. Die Medizinische Fakultät will mit einer Stiftungsprofessur geschlechtsspezifische Aspekte nachhaltig in Forschung, Lehre und Praxis verankern.
The Faculty of Medicine Bern combines the entire spectrum of medical research, implemented at Inselspital, the dental clinics and the University Psychiatric Services (UPD). In an environment characterized by digital change and technological developments, it strives for excellence in teaching, research and cutting-edge medicine. The Department of Clinical Research (DCR), founded in 2019, acts as an interdisciplinary interface between teaching and practice. It promotes clinical and translational research partnerships and supports collaboration between specialist areas. This results in innovative solutions for complex medical issues that are transferred directly into practice and lead to better treatments.
