Sound research provides an important foundation for sustainable policymaking. Researchers therefore need access to relevant data and adequate funding to conduce their work and generate knowledge that can inform policy processes.

In emerging economies in particular, established academic structures and resources are often insufficient to meet these needs. Through targeted funding, the WTI aims to bridge these gaps, creating opportunities for young researchers regardless of their background and helping to advance sustainable policymaking internationally.
